New holder for my silk ribbon

My sweet husband made me a holder for the new silk ribbon I bought.  I think it is going to be very handy to use.  I have embrodery floss on it also as I don't have bunches of silk ribbon.

For my first Friday Night Sew In I decided to start the Craftsy Block of the Month.  I was able to complete the January and February blocks. I am using a white on white small print and varied batiks.

My first RR Novice RR 4 anything goes

I am excited to be participating in my first RR.  This is the block I am sending.

Vintage Linen and Hankies

This was planned to be the center medallion for a quilt but the colors didn't work out, so it was framed instead.

First time in a crazy quilt show

I am excited to be a part of the Crazy Quilts are Quilts Too show over at Pigtales and Quilts.  I have never been part of an online show before so this is a totally new experience for me.

I come from a quilting family, both of my grandmothers and my mother made quilts.  I am lucky to have quilts from each of them. I made my first quilt when I was sixteen and have been quilting ever since. 

A few years ago I made each of my daughters a crazy quilt using corduroy, mach suede and upholstery fabrics in earth tones. I used the herringbone stitch on all of the seams. I thought I was a crazy quilter until I found the Yahoo crazy quilting groups. Now I know I have lots to learn.

I have been working on a quilt for my daughter's wedding, which was almost three years ago. I used vintage linens, and hankies. I have tried to do more interesting seam treatments on it but I still haven't ventured into the squares yet. 

I made my daughter some cq pillows for Christmas.  I especially enjooyed embrodering on the fabric.

More Embossing on Velvet

I was showing how to emboss velvet at my quilt guild and was given the idea of using the tool that is used to batik.  Several years ago our salvage store got in an interesting lot of copper stamps.  We bought several thinking our daughter could use them in her pottery.  Later I learned that they were tools used to batik fabrics.  We went back and got all that were left at 90% off.  I have dozens of them.  I went home and tried and here are the results.

Embossing Velvet

Here is my first try at embossing velvet.  I am pleased with the way it turned out.  Picture is not great but you can get the idea.

TAST #3 Feather Stitch

I decided to make a flowering bush on my March block.  The picture isn't too good but I tried.

Celebrate Life Challenge

The challange this week was the button hole stitch.  It is hard to see but I have added gold beads to the stitches I used.
